This small, white chapel lies in a picturesque landscape on a small hill above the village of Thalham. It is surrounded by trees and woods, which thus provide it with a type of natural picture frame. The chapel is a place of reflective tranqullity with a history that stretches far back into the past.

A walk on the Kalvarienberg in the immediate vicinity of the centre of St. Georgen allows one to forget the hustle and bustle of daily life for a while, and offers an open invitation to rest and enjoy the splendid panorama view.

St. Georgen parish church is not only an ideal venue for concerts within the framework of the Attergauer Cultural Summer, but also an attractive place of interest in the district, as in its role as a central piece of architecture, it mirrors the history of the Attergau. In fact, the late Gothic, two-nave hall church with its interlaced vaulting and 72m tower, represents a special landmark of the market town.

One cannot see the nearby Lake Attersee from Kogl House, but one can sense it, just as the joie de vivre derived from culturally enriched relaxation can be felt throughout the entire Salzkammergut region. This is far removed from urban splendour, indeed even the gravel paths in the park seem to crunch in a more relaxed manner than those in Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace.
