Dialect poet Anna Vogel

She was an archetype and an important personality who gave us the Attergau song.

Anna Vogl was born on July 25, 1881 as daughter of the forest superintendent Josef Vogl in Salzburg. Her mother was the daughter of the mayor of St. Georgen. She gained a solid education in Salzburg. After the death of her mother she inherited the property in St. Georgen. It was rather difficult for her to settle in, because her social life took part in Salzburg. But Anna Vogl was eager to adopt the dialect of the region, the tradition and old incidents and brought them down in her poems. Many verses and writings have unfortunately been lost. In 1954 the booklet “Hoamat, mei Attergau (home is the Attergau)” was published. Pastor Franz Xaver Blasl set the lyrics to music.
